Plot

In a word once touched by humans, equine seek refuge. They call home the ancient, crumbling ruins left behind centuries before their demise. Gods were quickly sought out, surfacing only years after the equine brothers and sisters were left to fend for themselves. The horses that survived were divided into groups, those who hung onto their resentment for the humans and their treatment, and those who held a deeper understanding and were able to forgive.

This separated them to the point that resentment boiled between them. A simple disagreement became a feud between the two. A dangerous feud. They quickly built their worlds and realms separately. Those that took to the mountains called themselves the Fosc, while the others who stayed in the valleys referred to themselves as Lyrael. For a while, everything was quiet. So quiet, even the gods didn’t speak out.

There was an uprising, years ago. The People found their strength to rise up against the Fosc, who pillaged, raped, murdered and wreaked havoc on the land as well as the People. Unnecessary deaths, lives taken, People slaughtered simply because they spoke out against what they were seeing. They had the audacity to put their foot down and say enough. But it wasn’t enough.

The Fosc Royals decided to silence those who thought to speak out against them. The Lyrael Royals had no chance. While they fought for what they believed in, they were not equipped with the knowledge and experience that came with defeating the Fosc. It was an unfair battle that was lost before it was even fought, despite the hundreds of years that was spent fighting back and forth.

The new Fosc Lord, Cicatri, pushed the Lyrael out and forced them to submit. He lashed out, murdered for the sake of need to teach them all lessons he thought necessary. He found the Lyrael Lord, Amik, and had the Fosc Guard drag him from his refuge. Cicatri told the Fosc and Lyrael alike that this is what happened when the People spoke out against him. With that, he slaughtered Amik and whatever will the Lyrael had to fight off the Fosc, died with him.

Those who were captured became enslaved and belonged to the Fosc. The fortunate few managed to escape into the mountains the Fosc once called home. They are called the Isyon, the rebels. They venture out and strike against the Fosc to free whoever they can, while they can.

A new dark king was born and much like his father, he rules with a heavy hand. Angorat, the new king, thought to rid the world of the Lyrael altogether. However, what he didn’t know, was descendants of Amik hid in the mountains. She was planning a return. One that would free the Lyrael, bring the Isyon together, and fight back against the Fosc.
